Healthcare at UTC Warrington will provide you with the knowledge and skills to work across numerous vocational areas of the healthcare sector. You will look at the application of Health and Social Care working with employers and gain a good grounding in science and technical skills.

Our Health and Social Care Pathway will develop key skills that you will need for a career in healthcare, such as interpreting data to assess an individual’s health.

You will develop effective ways of working, such as designing a plan to improve an individual’s health and wellbeing. You will also develop essential knowledge about key areas such as human growth and development, health and social care services, and factors affecting people’s health and wellbeing.

Part of your learning will involve real-life challenges set by healthcare employers that will stretch you and build your industry skills. Alongside your studies you will work with local health and social care employers through site visits, work placements and practical masterclasses.

At Post-16

At the UTC you can choose between a purely vocational pathway or a combination of BTEC and A Levels depending on whether you are focused on an apprenticeship or university. We work with you to decide which is the best route for you.

Vocational: Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care (= 3 A Levels) + optional Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) (= 0.5 A Levels)

Combined: Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Health and Social Care (= 2 A Levels) + complimentary A Levels + optional Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) (= 0.5 A Levels)

Both the vocational and combined route provide an in-depth study of the health and social care sector and support progression to health and social care related degrees. Part of your learning will involve real-life challenges set by healthcare employers that will stretch you and build your industry skills. Alongside your studies you will work with local health and social care employers through site visits, work placements and practical masterclasses.
