Studying in Year 10 and Year 11 at UTC Warrington is different from a traditional secondary school. Learning is related to the world of work so that students can better understand the relevance of what they are learning.

At Key Stage, 4 our students study a combination of core GCSE subjects – English Literature & Language, Maths, Science (Combined) or Separate Sciences (Triple Award) and PSHE – alongside optional GCSE and technical qualifications for specialist pathways in:

  • Construction
  • Digital
  • Engineering
  • Science

This unique combination of studies equips students for further study, apprenticeships and employment in the areas they are interested in.

The curriculum at the UTC is supported by a wide-ranging personal development programme and extensive work with employers.

Pupils are motivated by the curriculum and how learning is organised. The college is effective in helping them to understand what attitudes they need to be successful in their learning.” Ofsted, 2019.

Specialist Curriculum

Students in Year 10 and Year 11 with a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths (STEM) can study an exciting specialist pathway alongside core GCSE subjects:

Our Partnerships

We work with our employer partners to understand what knowledge and skills they require for their future workforce, and with our university partner to understand what higher education providers are looking for. This helps to determine our choice of academic, technical and professional qualifications so that we can provide our students with the best possible opportunities.

Professional Development

Through our enrichment programme, all students have the chance to develop themselves personally and professionally. Our activities that form an integral part of the UTC experience demand leadership, initiative and resilience.
